Week 19

Things have been improving since the first trimester. Morning (or rather, night) sickness is a thing of the past and I can now feel baby kicking!

We have agreed on several things so far:

  • Gender - we shall not want to find out until birth (for practical reasons - so I will buy unisex clothes and items which can then be reused for subsequent babies)
  • Bottles - after weighing the pros and cons, we've decided to use glass bottles for health and environmental reasons. I just realised that plastic bottles need to be changed every few months!
  • Waste management - we shall be using a mix of cloth diapers, environmentally friendly disposable diapers and this awesome technique I discovered called elimination communication. Basically, it's potty training your child as early as possible because apparently, babies do communicate when they would like to ehem ehem but parents have trained them to simply pee and poop in the diapers.
I'm glad Daniel's been supportive of the three areas above as I find myself feeling guilty over the thought of creating so much waste that will not disappear even though they are out of sight. This is probably due to an increased awareness as a result of joining the Zero Waste Facebook group.

Tomorrow, we shall be going for our first antenatal programme by the hospital. Certainly looking forward as it's one of the few things we've done together for the baby! The other things we've done together are going to the Baby Expo or visiting baby shops, but that's about it.

July will be a busy month - we have tomorrow's antenatal programme; a detailed scan and my graduation photoshoot the following week; as well as James leaving to Sweden and my graduation the week after.

I'll be starting with Matahari College (using a codename just to be safe) this week - nervous and anxious to start work there. Hopefully all will go well and the students won't eat me alive. Or hopefully this grouchy expectant lecturer won't bite them for playing with their phones.
